3. Stress causes acne– In theory, stress can affect hormones, and therefore promote acne. It’s hard to quantify this though, and when you think about the stress most of us deal with in day to day to life, there wouldnt be an acne free face in sight. An effective acne treatment regime will override a bit of everyday stress anytime.

There have been some promising studies recently (namely in 2011, 2012, Journal of Investigative Dermatology) in which green tea was shown to have a noticeable impact on acne when used externally. Internally, there is theory it helps as well, but less concrete evidence. To sum up the findings briefly, there is an antioxidant in green tea called epigallocatechin-3-gallate or EGCG. ECGC was shown to reduce sebum production, inflammation, and bacterial growth in acne-prone skin-basically the main causes behind breakouts. It’s exciting for the future of acne, or rather, a future without acne. Here’s how to use it topically-you can also try drinking a cup or two a day to detoxify.

Hi Claire, I have been having problems with un-controlable acne, usually my face doesn’t break out this bad as it has been doing for the last few weeks, I need some help, I read your article on 22 remedies for clearing up acne/ blemishes. It was helpful!! But do you have any remedies for if I am going to bed? Do you think olive oil would work? Should i just rub that into my face then go to sleep? I also have a problem with picking at/ popping my pimples. I can’t help it though, I want my blemishes to whine down for awhile. My peers at school always talk about how “jacked” up my face is (referring to my blemishes/acne) do you have any advice for keeping myself under-control form touching and picking at my acne? I left my mom’s email so you can get back to me if i’m not around, P.S You sound like an INSPIRING soul!

I have tried everything from proactive to every possible otc acne cream you get and even multiple glycolic peels – my advice is to honestly stay of chemicals and synthetic products, they do more harm than good. And there are so many natural treatments that work even faster. First, check if your acne is cause by hormone imbalance because mine was. And also, the best remedy that I found after everything was a baking soda face mask twice a week. And always using pure tea tree essential oil if im breaking out – also add a few drops of the oil to your sunscreen in the morning and your night cream so the antibacterial properties are constantly at work. I promise you’ll see a reduction, and don’t forget to watch your diet – drink plenty of water etc. Try not to get too impatient with the scars – deal with the acne first and then with the scars once you have your acne under control, its pointless otherwise. Good luck!!

Oatmeal can power you up from the inside out-and the outside in. If you soak/cook your oats and use them in mask, they can reduce the inflammation and unsightly redness that accompanies breakouts. Add some honey to your mask and you have a great recipe for a rather tasty sounding acne remedy. Keep in mind that oatmeal on its own will not cure your acne, and should be used as part of a sensible routine acne treatment. However, it may very well reduce the blatant, painful, appearance of the breakouts.

I used to have lots of acne too and only mary kay products kept it really clear, but like you, when i stopped acne was back. Through online research i discovered that many people have been recommended by dermatologists to use clearasil. It doesnt keep my skin 100% clear but close. I combine that with clean and clear persa gel for the few breakouts i get. I wash my face at night and morning. At night i wear a light face moisturizer, and durig he day i wear sunblock under my makeup. I do use st ives apricot scrub once or twice a week. If i notice my pores too big i just a little lemon mixed w a few drops of water and voila, theyre gone. For large pores u can also try egg white with a few drops of lemon at least once a week (i swear this works magic!). I also try home made masks that work for me. If just want to clear my pores and dead cells i mix baking soda, honey and lemon and create a consistency. If i want to feel my skin really soft and brighter i mix a tbspn of oatmeal oats with water and once theyre soaked i crush them and apply that to my face until it dries. I know many home remedies, my point is try a few and see what works best for you. But as for the cleanser, id say clearasil is the best one ive used and its cheap and very gentle with skin. Good luck! I just spilled some of my secrets Side note: try to see if some foods are triggers for your acne. This is basic, but if nothing works then try a dermatologist.

Honey and strawberries make a home remedy for acne that sounds pretty sweet (pun intended) and it combines two things that are used commonly in pricey, often time’s harsh, facial scrubs and cleansers. Strawberries may seem random, but consider the fact that they’re high in salicylic acid. Salicylic acid-a primary ingredient in many commercial acne treatments- encourages the epidermis to shed its cells more readily, opening up clogged pores, and neutralizing bacteria. It also shrinks up the pores a little bit, which prevents them from clogging up as much in the future, and encourages new cell growth. Honey also works against bacteria that may be behind your acne, and is an anti-inflammatory.

Unfortunately, many people choose potentially dangerous prescription drugs and topical medications over natural home remedies for acne. But getting rid of acne naturally is possible, as is minimizing acne scars.

In this study, sweet basil oil slightly outperformed holy basil oil in topical applications. Holy basil oil tea, or Tulsi tea, supports healthy blood sugar and hormone levels. As these two conditions are linked with acne, consuming herbal tea daily will balance hormones naturally, fighting acne from the inside out, making this one of the best cross-over home remedies for acne.

Acne home remedy: Tea Tree Oilistock/temmuz can arsirayWith its natural inflammation-fighting properties, a 5 percent solution of tea tree oil is less harsh than a 5 percent benzoyl peroxide solution and can be just as effective against acne, though it may clear up a little less quickly. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with between 20 and 40 drops of witch hazel, then use a cotton swab to apply. Try this remedy up to twice a day; more could dry your skin and make the acne worse.

Tee tree oil is a very common home remedy for many conditions, but especially for acne and other skin conditions. Tea tree oil is able to break up clogged pores, clear out dead skin cells, and keep acne from coming back. To use tee tree oil for acne, mix one part oil to six to nine parts water, depending on how strong you want the mixture to be. Apply directly to the skin using cotton balls, and leave it on for around 30 minutes. You can moisturize afterwards, but be sure that you never use tea tree oil undiluted.
